Route 236 in Eliot Maine has been a hotspot for Turtle mortality, especially Blanding's Turtles.  MaineDOT in partnership with USFWS and Maine Dept of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife have been planning and designing a fencing and crossing structure for several years and in 2021 finally built it. A grant was also obtained from the Maine Natural Resource Conservation Fund.  Monitoring is beginning so the efficiency will be determined in the future.
