Newton Wong, Caltrans
Transportation Ecology in Construction, Operations and Maintenance
Poster Session and Reception (Reception starts at 6pm)

Wildfires (like the Woolsey Fire) followed by heavy rainstorms has caused slope failures, rock fall, and road damages. Many of these damaged roads are along sensitive habitats and to waterways.  While maintaining and re-constructing roadways, we would have to avoid and minimize impacts to the natural environment. The goal is of this presentation is to share lessons learned, creative solutions and best practices for expediting emergency roadway projects while protecting ecological resources from beginning to end. And how we can create a harmony with regulatory agencies issuing emergency permits.
